Explanation: The default installation of a VIP agent tries nightly to run the hlq.agentnam.VIPINST(OFFLOAD) job that saves monitoring data to historical GDG archives.
In the default installation, that JCL member is renamed VIPOFFLD. Thus, the default is to not offload the data, but offloading can easily be turned on by renaming VIPOFFLD to OFFLOAD.
Data offloaded in this way provides the source for generating VIP graphical history reports. In many cases, users prefer to report historical data by using SAS or a similar program to read VIP SMF records.
