RABQ overflow: lcl_ip..port rmt_ip..port
Connection removed from RTM and TAPM monitoring
Description: These messages are issued as a pair when reassembly buffers (RABs) being maintained for a connection being monitored by the TN3270 Response Time Monitor or the TCP Application Performance Monitor have exceeded a threshold.
Reassembly buffers are used to temporarily hold TCP segments that arrive out of order. Normally, only a small handful of RABs will be queued at any one time. Under extreme traffic loads, and especially if the trace buffer wraps and packets are missed, the RAB queue may become arbitrarily large, and can threaten the health of the agent.
When the RAB queue exceeds a certain length, these messages are issued. The Traffic Analysis connection block is freed, along with all RABs on its queue. The Monitor will continue to run, but the connection will thereafter be invisible to it.
The maximum RAB queue length can be changed using OPTION21 in VIPPARM1. The maximum is calculated by raising 2 to the value of OPTION21 and multiplying the result by 64.
The default for OPTION21 is 2; therefore, the default maximum RAB queue length is 256.
| OPTION21 | Max RABs |
|---|---|
| 0 | 64 |
| 1 | 128 |
| 2 (default) | 256 |
| 3 | 512 |
| 4 | 1024 |
| 5 | 2048 |
| 6 | 4096 |
